As a response to the double-cab ute of Ford's performance, this is bigger, brushes and bills. But, does the Ford Ranger Raptor remain on its name? Paul Marrick came to know.
Profit and loss.
ADVANTAGE

DISADVANTAGE
Opposition
New diesel engine lacks punch
The internal content does not quite match the price tag
Less than 700 kg payload and 2500 kg less than towing capacity
80, 90, 100 km / h ... and brace. As my stomach churning, we become air and then crash back to Earth. We have so far cleared all new 2019 Ford Ranger Rapters!
What are you looking at here are Ford's first Ford Ranger Raptor and epic left-hand drive-younger brother of Ford F-50 Raptor.
Particularly disclosed by CarAdvis in 2015, Ranger Raptor has been a passion project for the Australian T6 Home Room. In Australia, Ford has designed and engineered the Ranger Raptor, so the Australian DNA is well and truly embedded in every part of this vehicle.
Do not forget to think it is another type of ranger. In addition to a new design and 150mm wide track, there is a long list of changes that make it a unique product - and it's definitely worth it to justify the $ 74, 9 00 (plus on-road cost) price tags. Necessary.
Let's start with the engine under the bonnet. It is a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which produces 157 kW power and 500 nm torque (between 1750-2000 rpm) and is made up of a new 10-speed automated gearbox - with no manual available Not there. There is a cast iron block with direct injection and four valves per cylinder.
Main Specification:
Length: 538 9 mm
Width: 2180 mm (with mirror)
Height: 1873mm
Mass: 2404 kg
Payload: 758 kg
Towing: 2500 kg (break), 750 kg (unbreakable)
GVM / GCM: 30 9 0 kg / 5350 kg
0-100 km / hr: 10.4 seconds
The official fuel consumption figure comes on the combined cycle per 100 km / s 8.2 liters. How does it compare with the 3.2-liter five-cylinder diesel in the current ranger? It's better, but not too much - 8.7 L / 100 km v 8.2 / 100 km. It is partly thanks to its heavy weight of cancer - 2404 kgs, which comes in 2289 kgs compared to the Ranger Wildtrack.
The torque is routinely sent with four-wheel drive high-range mode on the rear axle and ultimately four-wheel drive low-range mode is available. There is also a previous differential lock that can be activated in all three drive modes - unlike some dual-cab utes which only allow the previous interlock to activate in low-grade mode.
This suspension and tire setup provides an epic 283 mm ground clearance to the Ranger Raptor - this segment receives every second dual-cab ute. The sum of body changes has improved the off-road capacity of the Ranger Raptor, offering 32.5 / 24/24 degree approaches, ramp-over and departure angle, respectively - 29 degrees for the Wildtrack approach and departure in comparison. Offers 21 degrees for
Before we perform raptors on our home turf, let's talk about the engine. Power and torque is up, but the engine does not feel like a heavy jump to itself. If you separate this fact, then this is the same engine which will be offered as an option on the MY19 Ranger Range, in which there is no punch expected by the engine in the wrapper model.
The 10-speed automatic gearbox is good - it's a quarrel and always manages to slot in the right gear. While the twin-turbocharged four-cylinder engine works well around the city and at low speeds, at the same time, it feels like when the speed increases.
We were three-three with the load of the camera gear on our drive along the Stuart Highway towards the Adelaide River. At approximately 100-130 km speed, as soon as you punch throttle to move forward, there is not much urgency. Noisy, but not too much in the back. This will be extended because you add more weight and people to the car. We were just hoping a bit more from the drivetrain.
On the subject of noise, the engine has a similar note for the 3.2-liter 5-cylinder unit currently shown in the ranger, which is definitely a good thing. The engine around the city is responsive and offers a decent amount of punch. Soft tune on suspension also means that when you go to the throttle to move away, the body gets a little different.
